1 We are able to offer home visits to clients. However in the majority of cases pets are best seen at the surgery as we then have all equipment and staff to hand that we may require, including veterinary nurses.
2 For animals on long term medication we offer a repeat prescription service. Prescription Only Medications (POM-V) are subject to prescribing legislation and can only be dispensed on the authority of a veterinary surgeon who is in charge of, and has knowledge of that animal's health. For us to prescribe a POM-V we will need to see your animal regularly, the frequency will depend upon the condition we are treating and the drugs being prescribed. We need 24 hours notice for repeat prescriptions.
3 This means that we have been inspected and meet the criteria laid down by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to be an accredited core standards practice. We have been inspected to show that our premises and equipment are suitable for the work we undertake. We have to demonstrate that we have appropriate diagnostic and surgical equipment, and that everything is installed and used in accordance with health and safety requirements. Hygiene and cleanliness are an important part of the accreditation. The accreditation ensures that our staff are appropriately trained and qualified to carry out their jobs and participate in continued professional development. The accreditation also ensures that we meet our obligations to provide 24 hour emergency cover. This scheme is voluntary and around 50% of practices in the UK are accredited.
