Meet the Team.

Our Vets

David Smith

After graduating from Edinburgh University in 1999 I was lured by the sea, sand and surf to Cornwall. After 6 years in mixed practice I returned to my Yorkshire roots, got married and now have 2 young children who keep me busy when not at work. I enjoy the challenge and variety of rural practice with a special interest in Cattle health and medicine.

Gillian Bailey

I graduated in 2007 from Liverpool Vet School, and then, following 6 years in mixed practice, joined Aldgate Veterinary Practice in June 2013. I enjoy small animal practice and have particular interest in dermatology, imaging, and soft tissue surgery, but still value my mixed practice roots. Having recently bought a house locally, my spaniel, Nuala, and rescue, Sally, give me the perfect opportunity to explore my surroundings. Away from the job I like gardening and practicing my culinary skills on my friends.

Keith Dalby

I grew up on a farm near Queensbury, Bradford I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1979, moving straight to Driffield as a new graduate working with MisCampbell & Roland at premises on St. John's Road. I continued the practice following Mr. MisCampbell's retirement in 1984 from premises on Westgate. The Westgate Practice merged with the Albany Veterinary Practice to form Aldgate Veterinary Practice, which opened its doors in October 1996 requiring another change of premises to our present location off Albion Street.

I have enjoyed the support of many of the original clients over the last 34 years who have remained loyal to me personally, this has contributed to the dedication I have maintained to the profession. I have seen considerable change throughout my career, but have always remained loyal to its traditional values, which, I consider, is important to clients - high quality, evidence-based and affordable veterinary care.

In my spare time I enjoy walking in the Wolds and Lake District, cycling and falling out of 50-year old sailing dinghies! I also support Driffield Musical Theatre.

Kirsty Nelson

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2003 and have worked in mixed practice in my home county of Yorkshire since. I moved to the area when I got married in 2010. Outside work I enjoy riding my horse, playing hockey and spending time with my family and Border Terrier Cross.

Lucy Butler

I grew up in Nafferton and attended Nafferton then Driffield school. I worked at Aldgate for a year as a vet nurse prior to attending the Royal Veterinary College. After qualifying in 2006 I worked for a mixed practice in North Yorkshire. I decided to return to my roots in 2011 and now live locally with my husband, dog, cat, horse and pony.

Mary Daly

I graduated from University College Dublin in 2002. I worked in a mainly large animal practice in Ireland for the first few years of my career, before joining the team at Aldgate. My current work load is based mainly around the small animal side of the practice, and my main area of interest here is internal medicine. However I am passionate about all aspects of my job, and still enjoy attending the large animal side of the practice, in particular at calving and lambing time. When not at the practice, I enjoy walking my four rescue dogs, and also exploring the Wolds on my bike. I play badminton and played tennis for Driffield Lawn Tennis Club. Despite all that activity, I also enjoy relaxing at my home in Driffield with my family!

Our Nurses

Helena Robinson

On leaving Driffield School, Helena went on to Newcastle University and studied Geography. After Graduating in 2010 she began working at Aldgate as an evening receptionist. It was here, whilst working alongside the veterinary team that she took a keen interest in nursing and began attending the College of Animal Welfare in Leeds. Helena qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in September 2014. When not at work she often helps out at the family farm and walking their Jack Russell Milly.

Lucy Rose

Lucy started at Aldgate Veterinary Practice in June 2014. She started her training to become a Student Veterinary Nurse and is currently attending the College of Animal Welfare in Leeds. In her spare time Lucy enjoys crafting, knitting and baking. She has a lovely black cat Dolly and a very cute and excitable Guinea pig called Stitch. After a move to Driffield from Leeds she is enjoying exploring the local area with lots of long walks in the surrounding countryside.

Michelle Gale

I have worked at Aldgate Vets for the past 2 years after graduating from Hull university with a degree in Animal Management and Behaviour. I speciaised in Herpetology which I have a keen interest in. I currently have a Cat, German Shepherd and Pomeranian who keep me occupied in my spare time.

Charlotte Totterdell

I joined Aldgate last year as an evening receptionist after graduating in Product Design from York st John University. I am now working full time on reception throughout the day. I've loved animals since I was a child and have a particular soft spot for cats. I have three gorgeous rescue cats Ernie, Bella and Barney and two cute little rescue guinea pigs Lois and Cleo.

Debbie Wharrie

I have worked at Aldgate for over 3 years now and it's the best job I've ever had. I have an amazing English Bulldog called Watson who loves coming to work for visits.

Hayley Ireland

Reception Manager

I have worked in veterinary practice since 2006, starting as a kennel assistant then qualifying as an Animal Nursing Assistant in 2008. I now work on reception and use my knowledge on the admin side. Animals are my passion and I can never imagine working in any other profession. I absolutely love my job and everything that comes with it! I have two dogs and live on a farm with my husband and two beautiful children.

Sally Arnold

Originally from Northampton I moved to Bridlington 5 years ago. I have always loved the sea and I really enjoy living so close to it. I have had animals since I was quite small and I couldn't believe it when I got the opportunity to work at the Bridlington practice. I now have my own dogs, Izzy and Charlie and spend as much time as I can with them and my family.

Sally Huitt

I am a Bridlington girl and could never imagine not living by the sea. A visit to Aldgate vets with my limping bunny resulted in me working for the practice - the bunny got better, so things turned out well!

Vickie Neilson

I have worked at Aldgate since 2002. Firstly nursing duties and now spend my time as a Stock and Administration Assistant. I enjoy riding my horse, Joel, and walking my Border Terriers.
